Hubert Hurkacz has faced a challenging few weeks. After suffering a serious injury at Wimbledon, the Polish tennis player had to undergo surgery, which forced him to withdraw from the upcoming Paris Olympic Games. Upon his return to the court, Hurkacz’s performance was less than stellar. Heading into the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, there were many uncertainties surrounding his form. Unfortunately, in New York, Hurkacz was once again unable to progress beyond the second round, marking the sixth time in his career that he exited the tournament at this stage. He lost to Jordan Thompson in straight sets: 6-7(2), 1-6, 5-7.

The day after this match, Hurkacz’s coach, Craig Boynton, made a surprising announcement on his official Instagram account, revealing that their partnership had come to an end. “What an incredible ride over the past 5 years. We’ve experienced so many unbelievable highs and grown so much together, but sometimes good things must come to an end. Hubi and I have agreed to go our separate ways. I’m very grateful for the time we’ve shared. I’m looking forward to the next chapter in my life and the opportunities that will come,” Boynton wrote, along with several photos of him and Hurkacz.

Craig Boynton began coaching Hurkacz in March 2019. Initially, he balanced his duties with another player, Steve Johnson, but eventually, he focused solely on guiding the Polish star. Their partnership saw significant growth and success, but now both are ready to embark on new journeys in their careers.
