Liverpool Signs Federico Chiesa from Juventus

Liverpool has completed the signing of Italian forward Federico Chiesa from Juventus on a long-term contract, as announced by both clubs on Thursday. The deal is reportedly worth €12 million ($13.30 million) plus an additional €3 million in potential add-ons. Chiesa’s contract with Juventus was set to expire in 2025.

Chiesa’s Career and Comeback

Chiesa, 26, has been a key player for Juventus, despite suffering a serious knee injury in 2022 that kept him out of action for 10 months. He made a strong comeback last season, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. Over his four seasons with Juventus, Chiesa scored 32 goals in 131 matches. He initially joined Juventus on loan from Fiorentina in 2020 before making the move permanent.

Excitement About Joining Liverpool

Expressing his joy about joining Liverpool, Chiesa said, “I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When sporting director Richard Hughes called me and the coach Arne Slot reached out, I said yes immediately. I know the history of this club and what it means to the fans.”

Chiesa’s arrival at Anfield adds even more depth to Liverpool’s attacking options, which already include stars like Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez.

Looking Forward to Anfield

Chiesa also shared his excitement on social media, stating, “It’s a dream that has become a reality. When I hear the word Liverpool, I think of trophies, victories, and the great nights in the Champions League at Anfield. I can’t wait to hear the 60,000 fans singing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ I will give everything for this shirt and the fans. Forza Liverpool.”

International Success

Chiesa has scored seven goals in 51 appearances for Italy and was part of the squad that won Euro 2020. He also represented Italy in the recent European Championship.

Liverpool’s Transfer Activity

Chiesa is Liverpool’s second signing of the summer transfer window. The club previously agreed on a £30 million ($39.46 million) deal to bring Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, who will join the squad next season.
