Robert Kubica Makes Motorsport History with Big Win

On Sunday, September 1, Robert Shwartzman drove the No. 83 Ferrari to victory at the Circuit of the Americas during the World Endurance Championship’s Lone Star Le Mans race. While the win was amazing for the team, it was even more special for Robert Kubica.

Kubica, a former Formula 1 driver, became only the third F1 driver to also win a race in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). This rare achievement was only done before by Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso. Today, we celebrate Robert Kubica’s accomplishment.

Robert Kubica: Poland’s Motorsport Hero

Robert Kubica was born on December 7, 1984, in Krakow, Poland. His love for motorsport started early. At just four years old, Kubica fell in love with a small off-road race car. His family bought it for him, and before long, Kubica was winning go-kart titles. In just three years, he won six championships!

In 2000, Kubica began his professional racing career in Formula Renault. His skills impressed many, and Renault signed him as part of its development driver program.

However, his journey wasn’t easy. In 2003, Kubica had a car accident that delayed his debut in the Formula 3 Euro Series. The crash left him with a broken arm that needed 18 titanium screws. But Kubica didn’t give up. He returned to racing halfway through the season, wearing a brace, and won at the Norisring track.
